Chungcheong Province, known in Korean as Chungcheong-do, was historically one of the eight provinces of Korea during the Joseon Dynasty. It was located in the southwest of the Korean peninsula, with its provincial capital at Gongju, which also served as the capital of the ancient Baekje kingdom. Today, the region is divided into North and South Chungcheong provinces in South Korea, known for their rich history and as a transportation hub with major cities like Daejeon and Cheonan. The area is also set to host the 2027 Summer World University Games, showcasing its cultural significance and modern development.
