Zuihoden (瑞鳳殿, Zuihōden) serves as the mausoleum for Date Masamune, a prominent feudal lord during the Edo Period. Masamune initiated the lineage of Date lords who governed Sendai from Aoba Castle. His progeny, Date Tadamune and Date Tsunamune, rest in adjacent mausoleums, whereas subsequent descendants occupy simpler graves and tombs.
