zilicun
The Zilicun Diaolou Cluster, located in Kaiping, Guangdong, China, is a remarkable example of the fusion of Chinese and Western architectural styles. These multi-story fortified towers were built by local villagers from the late Ming dynasty to the early 20th century, with a peak in construction during the 1920s and 1930s. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the Zilicun Diaolou Cluster includes nine diaolous, standing out in the landscape as a testament to the region's history and the cultural exchange between East and West.
