zhongyue temple

The Zhongyue Temple, located in Henan, China, is a remarkable Taoist temple complex that has stood since the 2nd century BC. Recognized by UNESCO for its cultural significance, it is nestled at the southern foot of the sacred Songshan Mountain and is part of the "Historic Monuments of Dengfeng". Often referred to as the 'Small Forbidden City' due to its architectural resemblance to Beijing's Forbidden City, the temple offers a serene and historically rich experience, less frequented by tourists compared to its Buddhist counterpart, the Shaolin Temple.
