xidi ancient village
Xidi, a village steeped in nearly a millennium of history, is renowned for its well-preserved Anhui architecture and urban planning from medieval China. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside Hongcun, Xidi's charm lies in its 300 ancient dwellings, 124 of which remain in excellent condition, echoing the Ming and Qing dynasties' grandeur. The village's rise was closely linked to the Hu family, whose fortunes in commerce and politics saw Xidi flourish in the 18th and 19th centuries.
