The Xi Xia Imperial Tombs, located in Ningxia, China, are a remarkable historical site that offers a glimpse into the Western Xia Dynasty's past. These tombs, which are sometimes referred to as the Oriental Pyramids, are situated at the eastern foot of the Helan Mountains and span over 50 square kilometers. They include nine imperial mausoleums and over 250 lesser tombs, showcasing a unique architectural style that blends celestial patterns with traditional tomb design. The site, which has been partially excavated since 1972, reveals intricate details such as inner squares, roads, courtyards, and underground palaces, all bearing witness to the grandeur of the Western Xia Kingdom.
