wat phra sri sanphet
Wat Phra Si Sanphet, once the holiest temple on the site of the old Royal Palace in Ayutthaya, Thailand, stands as a testament to the grandeur of the ancient capital. Destroyed by the Burmese in 1767, it was renowned for its majestic chedis and served as a model for Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok. The temple's history dates back to 1350 when King U-thong established Ayutthaya as the capital and ordered the construction of the royal palace at the same site.
