st peter's cathedral
The High Cathedral of Saint Peter in Trier, commonly known as Trier Cathedral, holds the distinction of being the oldest cathedral in Germany. With its foundation dating back to around 270 AD, the cathedral stands on a site with a rich history, once occupied by a palace belonging to the mother of Emperor Constantine. Over the centuries, it has been built upon and restored multiple times, reflecting various architectural styles. Today, it not only serves as a place of worship but also houses a significant collection of art and the Holy Robe, believed to be the tunic worn by Jesus during his crucifixion.
