shuzhuang garden

Shuzhuang Garden, nestled on the southern side of Gulangyu Island in Fujian, China, is a serene retreat that masterfully blends architecture with the natural landscape. Originally a private villa built in 1931, it was transformed into a public garden in 1955. The garden's design cleverly employs techniques like "hiding elements" and "borrowing from the surroundings" to create an illusion of infinite space. Visitors can explore two main sections, Canghai Garden, which conceals the sea view, and Bushan Garden, which incorporates the surrounding hills into its layout, offering a tranquil escape and stunning vistas.
