The Port of Seattle, established on September 5, 1911, is a crucial government agency that manages both the seaport and the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport. It serves as a significant economic engine in the Pacific Northwest, with a diverse portfolio that includes parks, waterfront real estate, and one of the largest container terminals on the West Coast. Governed by a five-member Port Commission elected by King County voters, the Port of Seattle has played a pivotal role in expanding Seattle's shipping trade and supporting the region's economic growth over more than a century.
