royal palace at caserta
The Royal Palace of Caserta, constructed in the 18th century, stands as a masterpiece of Italian Baroque and early Neoclassical architecture. Designed by Luigi Vanvitelli, it was intended to be the central hub for the kings of Naples from the House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies. The palace is renowned for its grandeur, with a floor area of approximately 138,000 square meters, over 1,200 rooms, and an expansive park with a complex aqueduct system. In 1997, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrated for its design and as a symbol of the last flourish of the Baroque era.
