paola

Paola is a fascinating town in Malta's South Eastern Region, steeped in history and named after Grand Master Antoine de Paule. He was a prominent figure of the Knights Hospitaller, also known as the Order of St. John, which played a significant role in Maltese history. The foundation stone laid by de Paule in 1626 marked the beginning of the town, which has since grown and developed while retaining its historical roots. Today, Paola is known for its rich cultural heritage, including the Tarxien Temples, some of the oldest free-standing structures in the world.
