padua cathedral

The Padua Cathedral, also known as the Basilica Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, stands as a testament to the rich religious and architectural history of Italy. This Catholic church, located in the vibrant Piazza Duomo, is the seat of the Bishop of Padua and has been a pivotal site since the 4th century. Over the centuries, it has undergone significant reconstructions, with the current Renaissance building dating back to the 16th century, although its façade remains unfinished. The cathedral is not only a place of worship but also a guardian of history, housing the venerated bodies of saints and showcasing frescoes by Giusto de' Menabuoi in its adjoining baptistery.
