mozu tombs
The Mozu Tombs, located in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, are a remarkable collection of kofun, or ancient Japanese megalithic tombs. These tombs, which date back to the 3rd to 6th centuries, were built for the elite and signify a period of significant sociopolitical hierarchy in Japan. The largest of these, the Daisenryo Kofun, is believed to be the tomb of Emperor Nintoku and is one of the largest tombs in the world. This site, rich in history and cultural significance, was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reflecting its importance in the historical narrative of Japan.
