mount of olives
The Mount of Olives, a significant site in the religious and cultural history of Jerusalem, stands to the east of the Old City. This ridge, once covered in olive groves, has been a place of great importance for millennia. It serves as a cemetery with a history that spans over 3,000 years, housing approximately 150,000 graves. From tearful prayers in the Garden of Gethsemane to a skyward exit that would make any superhero envious, this mount has seen it all. It's no wonder that pilgrims flock here like tourists to a blockbuster movie set, hoping to walk the same olive-treed path that Jesus did – minus the Roman soldiers and ancient sandals, of course.
