memorial to the murdered jews of europe

The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, situated in Berlin, stands as a poignant reminder of the atrocities of the Holocaust. Designed by architect Peter Eisenman and engineer Buro Happold, it consists of 2,711 concrete slabs arranged in a grid pattern on a sloping field. This stark and powerful design invites reflection and remembrance, with an underground "Place of Information" that holds the names of approximately 3 million Jewish Holocaust victims, sourced from Yad Vashem. The memorial's design and its location, near where the Berlin Wall once stood, add layers of historical significance to this site of contemplation and remembrance.
