mateus palace
The Mateus Palace, a resplendent gem of Baroque architecture, stands proudly in the parish of Mateus, Vila Real, Portugal. Constructed in the 18th century, possibly between 1739 and 1743, it was designed by the renowned architect Nicolau Nasoni. The palace is a harmonious blend of buildings including a manor, winery, and chapel, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens that reflect the grandeur of the era. Recognized as a National Monument, it not only showcases intricate interior decorations and a rich collection of art but also gives its name to the famous Mateus rosé wine.
