luce memorial chapel
The Luce Memorial Chapel is an architectural marvel located on the campus of Tunghai University in Taichung, Taiwan. Designed by the renowned architect I.M. Pei and his associate Chi-kuan Chen, the chapel stands as a tribute to the Rev. Henry W. Luce, an American missionary in China during the late 19th century. Its unique design features a tent-like conoid structure with four curved surfaces that rise to a height of 19.2 meters, creating a prominent landmark within the university grounds. The chapel's construction was completed between 1962 and 1963, reflecting a harmonious blend of modern architecture and spiritual purpose.
