kochi castle

Kōchi Castle is a remarkable example of Edo Period architecture, located in the city of Kōchi, within Kōchi Prefecture, Japan. Constructed between 1601 and 1611, it served as the administrative center of the Tosa Domain, ruled by the Yamauchi clan under the Tokugawa Shogunate. The castle is notable for its survival through many historical events, including the post-Meiji Restoration era, and is one of the twelve original Japanese castles still standing. Today, it is recognized as an Important Cultural Property and continues to be a symbol of Japan's rich feudal history and architectural heritage.
