kaohsiung confucius temple

The Kaohsiung Confucius Temple, located near Lotus Pond in the Zuoying District of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is a significant cultural landmark. It is the largest Confucian temple complex in Taiwan, covering an area of 167 square meters. Originally built in 1684, it was reconstructed in 1976 with a design inspired by Song dynasty architecture and the Temple of Confucius in Qufu. This temple not only honors the memory of Confucius but also serves as a center for the annual Teachers' Day celebrations, reflecting the profound influence of Confucianism on Taiwanese society.
