kairakuen garden

Kairakuen, located in Mito, the capital city of Ibaraki Prefecture in Japan, is renowned for its beauty and historical significance. Established in 1841 by the local lord Tokugawa Nariaki, it is one of Japan's three most celebrated landscape gardens. The garden is particularly famous for its vast collection of over three thousand plum trees, which blossom into a vibrant display of colors during the plum festival season from late February through March. Kairakuen, which translates to "a garden to be enjoyed together," was designed not only for the ruling class but also for the public, embodying a philosophy of shared enjoyment and relaxation.
