Guangxi, known officially as the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is a fascinating area located in the southern part of China, bordering Vietnam. It was transformed from a province to an autonomous region in 1958, with the aim of promoting the cultural autonomy of the Zhuang people, who are the majority ethnic group in the region. The region is renowned for its breathtaking karst landscapes, particularly along the Li River near Guilin, and its vibrant mix of cultures. Nanning serves as the capital city of Guangxi, which is also home to a diverse array of other major cities and rural areas.
