Fukushima is the capital of Fukushima Prefecture in Japan, situated in the northern section of Nakadōri, the central area of the prefecture. The city encompasses much of the former Shinobu and Date Districts, along with a segment of the former Adachi District. It lies in the southwestern part of the Fukushima Basin, surrounded by mountains.
