Mount Everest, standing at a majestic 29,032 feet (8,849 meters) above sea level, is not only the highest peak on Earth but also a symbol of the awe-inspiring power of nature. Located on the border between Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, it is part of the Great Himalayas. Known in Tibetan as Chomolungma, or "Goddess Mother of the World," and in Nepali as Sagarmatha, or "Peak of Heaven," Mount Everest has been a beacon for mountaineers from around the globe. Since the first successful ascent by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953, the mountain continues to challenge and inspire countless adventurers.
