chartres cathedral
Chartres Cathedral, a masterpiece of French Gothic architecture, stands as a testament to medieval engineering and religious devotion. Constructed primarily between 1194 and 1220, this UNESCO World Heritage Site features remarkable stained glass windows and a labyrinth that draws visitors and pilgrims from around the world. Its two contrasting spires, one a plain pyramid dating to around 1160 and the other a flamboyant style from the early 16th century, dominate the skyline of Chartres, France. The cathedral also houses the Sancta Camisa, a relic believed to be the tunic worn by the Virgin Mary at Christ's birth.
