castello sforzesco

The Castello Sforzesco, a grand medieval fortification in Milan, stands as a testament to the city's rich history. Constructed in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan, it was built on the ruins of an earlier 14th-century fortification. Over the centuries, it has been renovated and expanded, becoming one of Europe's largest citadels in the 16th and 17th centuries. Today, after extensive rebuilding by Luca Beltrami in the late 19th century, it houses several of Milan's museums and art collections, offering a glimpse into the past through its impressive architecture and the treasures it holds within.
