aoba castle

Aoba Castle, also known as Sendai Castle, is a historic Japanese fortress located in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. Built by the daimyo Date Masamune in 1601, it served as the political and military base of the powerful Date clan during the Edo period. The castle's strategic location on a plateau overlooking the city, protected by cliffs and a deep forest, made it a formidable stronghold. Although much of the original structure has been lost to time, the site remains a symbol of Sendai's history and is now a national historic site, drawing visitors who wish to connect with Japan's feudal past.
