agra fort
The Agra Fort, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a historical fortification located in the city of Agra, India. Built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar between 1565 and 1573, it served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors until 1638. The fort, also known as the Red Fort of Agra, is a prime example of Mughal architecture, combining Islamic and Hindu styles. It is situated approximately 2.5 kilometers northwest of its more famous sister monument, the Taj Mahal, and its massive red sandstone walls enclose a complex of palaces, mosques, and halls, indicative of the grandeur of the Mughal Empire.
